Over the past several days, the North Captiva Conservation & Beautification Foundation—alongside a passionate team of volunteers—has made incredible progress on our Beach Access Restoration Project. If you’ve been on the island recently, you may have seen the fresh pile-and-rope fencing going up at beach access points where it had been destroyed by last year’s hurricanes. This fencing is vital: it helps prevent golf cart access to the sand, reducing damage to our dunes, protecting native vegetation, and safeguarding the nesting grounds of sea turtles and shorebirds like snowy plovers and black skimmers.
But we’re not there yet. We’re still $2,000 short of our fundraising goal to cover all materials and supplies needed to finish the job.

We’ve already made strong progress on the restoration effort—installing new pilings, stringing protective rope, and replacing damaged signage at several key beach access points. The visual transformation is clear, and the environmental impact will continue to grow as we complete more sections in the weeks ahead.
If you haven’t donated yet—or if you can give a little more—now is the time. Your support directly funds this on-the-ground conservation work that benefits every visitor, homeowner, and creature that calls North Captiva Island home.
📸 We’ll be sharing photos of the progress on our website and social channels—be sure to take a look and see the impact your contribution makes.
